Well, I turned off the specified widths and the buttons and tabs fit. Albiet not flushed as i would like. Now I have a problem with the "dark Fantasy" button once you clik on the "Gallery" button. It shows as hypertext, sans the GIF buttons, until you click on it. then it reverts to hypertext when you go to the next page. As hypertext, it causes the vertical/horizontal alignment to slightly expand. Anyway to solve this problem? BTW, this all happens in FF, not IE.

take5guy, awesome job on both your sites.  I liked the proffesionalism of your RLL page alot.

JB, great job as well.  Looks like you have worked out alot of the bugs already.

I am enjoying looking at the web sites our community is putting together.  Once I get more content on my site, I plan on linking all your sites, as part of the community.  You guys are making me look bad though.

Always looking for advice on Design

Hi JB, sorry it took me a bit to get around to a crit here. First, I should tell you that my BFA is actually in Illustration, so seeing your work makes me a bit jealous. You have some very nice work up there. I actually got into web design while trying to make a web site for my illustration portfolio. True story.

As for your site, I think its pretty easy to get around it in general. The portfolio navigation links on the bottom are a little confusing for me, largely because of the gallery tab. When I click that one, I would more expect all the other tabs on the bottom, to be sub-navs to that gallery tab, but it really doesn't work that way. I would maybe not make the gallery button look like the others, so it calls out that the other buttons are galleries in and of themselves. Also, I would add a rollover or something to each of those buttons, that you can leave active when I'm in a section, so I know which gallery I'm in.

On some of those tabs, I'm not getting a new image either. For example the Fine Art gallery, I only see an image on Image 3.

I would also recommend working to keep your font styles the same throughout. You're using different font faces, sizes, etc on pretty much every page. The gallery pages are consistent, but the pages off the nav on the top shift a lot. Specifically I would also recommend adding some margin around the text in the links section, so its off the left edge more. Also on the info page, I would make the text align left. Centered copy, especially a whole page of it, can get pretty disorientating. The strange thing for you on this specific page though is that the line breaks actually don't cause that much fluctuation in your line lengths, however, that makes it all the more obvious when sentences don't start in the same place, so it looks more like a misalignment.

Also, are you still having that problem with the Dark Fantasy button? I'm not replicating that issue at the moment.

Thanks for sharing JB and I hope this information is useful for you. Looking forward to seeing your progress. And again, very nice illustration work.

Howie,

I finally got a minute to really look around the forum and see what's going on! Been working on my site for weeks now. Nice to meet ya! I just new you as take5guy

Your websites look excellent!! I like them both very much!

You sound so much like me... FrontPage user for years and never having to worry about coding was nice but after learning CSS and finally seeing some results it makes the learning curve worth it.

Like you I also want to thank Dustin for the most informative tutorials. I also viewed them over and over  and wow I couldn't have learned how to work with EW without them!

I also want to thank you for the help you have given on this forum!

Regina

Hey Regina

Thanks, and your site is coming along very nice.

Yes this fourm and especially Dustin's videos have been very helpful.  I was really lost in EW until I watched the tutorial videos a few times.  Now I really like working in EW and when I have to go back to FrontPage to do some things on a few sites I have, that I haven't re-worked into EW, I see how much more I like EW.

Thanks again.
Howie

That's great to hear Howie. I know the early days (not that this isn't still the early days, but you get the point) of EW were filled with a lot of former FrontPage users who wanted to switch back to FP. EW is really a great step forward, so your feedback is encouraging. Good luck continuing on Howie.
