EW3 acting different from your videotutorial

I have followed your tutorial step-by-step several times now, but no-way I am able to create the website doing EXACTLY the same acts in the tutorial.
Manually Resizing a box for an example will move it out of left-column and so on.
Why?
Is there a tutorial with the same project for EW3?

EW3 doesn't float divs like video

All my divs stack on top of each other and do not line up down the page as the vid suggests they should am I missing something here?
Is there a default setting that I need to change.

divs insert at absolute 100x100 but they all stack up in the left corner.
Changing the float doesn't do anything on WE3 nor in browsers.

I am learning Expression and am going to rebuild my out of date website (frontpage 2000). The site has 50+ pages of products using four different templates. I need to know just where to start. I'm confused between CSS and DWT. Do I make a DWT for each template style or CSS?

Border issue

Problem with image in vid3 Bringing in the content

I am having a problem when I inert the "new-season.jpg" file. I follow the tutorial step by step, even leaving the div#picture as absolute until after i import the image. What I can't figure out is

Why the image shows as a separate bread crumb 'img'
Why the leftColumn and picture layers don't re size even after selecting "relative" for their position.

Is there a way to see the code for the file for the third video. I've reviewed it over and over again and I just can't get the first picture to act the same way the video does.

I deleted the height for my left column, and the position is relative

I deleted the height for the picture layer and the position is relative and my picture still goes under the footer.

my floats for my footer are set to none

My wrapper is set to 310 for a height - should this be deleted too?

CSS Round Corners in IE

I’m new the Expression Web. I’ve learned how to make round corners with CSS; however the corners do not appear round in IE. It works fine in Firefox. How can I make CSS round corners show in IE?

The Microsoft Office Online site at office.microsoft.com has round corners. Was did done with Expression Web?

Another question, how do you create the shadow effect with CSS as shown at office.microsoft.com web site?

Total newbie - why don't I get WYSIWYG

Ok, so I am a web-designer wannabe... I have create several simple sites in FP and have decided to try to learn Expressions...

I opened a site (that I created in FP) in Expressions. It displays fine in both IE and Firefox, but when I look at in my workspace it doesn't display like it does in the browsers (does this make sense)? Can someone tell me why this is so?

On our web site, www.pfura.com, I need to post / update the next meeting date on the first page and then under the sub-page "Meetings" I need to insert the meeting date and link it to the Agenda that I need to add to the site.
Next, in the lower section of this page I need to insert a date with a link to the minutes for the meeting of that date.

The previous summer intern did this last month and talked his way through it rather quickly as I watched but I didn't get step by step notes. Duh.

If this is addressed in a specific video or other comment it would be great to know.

I have just started using Microsft Expression Web, I used MS FrontPage lots but..., and decided to try to learn Express a bit more.

However after watching the videos and was doing the example used in video "Core" but I stopped on video 3 of the Introduction to Microsoft Express as for some reason my Footer covers the intire Product box, which is just bove the footer, and goes into the picture above the product box.

Hope this makes sence however I have attached the work I did following the video but I went wrong somewhere so am hoping someone can give me some useful advise.

Rollover buttons and the current page

I have been through most of the video tutorials and am progressing adequately.
However, I may be misunderstanding a point on rollover buttons programmed as a ul.

As shown in the last video "Creating Rollovers with CSS", I have created a 3 level image.
I want the first level for a link (Red), the second for the hover state (blue) -these I have working. However, I want the third (Green) to represent the current page. How can I program that in the style sheet so whatever page the user is on, that link is Green?

The graphic is 105 px high, the top 35, red; the middle 35, blue; the lower 35 green.
This is a virtual field trip web site for third graders, hence my generous use of brighter colors.

Treeview or something look-a-like?

Hi. I'm studying at the moment, and we have to make a website. I'm going to make a online shop for stuff like computers and so on. And since I have alot of products, I decided to make a treeview in the left side. So before i made the sites for all the products, i wanted to see how it would look. so i made a treeview, and had the screen splitted up, so it looked good. Then i tried to view it in Internet Explore, and the was no tree? I saved it, so it not that.
What can it be?
Oh ya. I am totally new to this stuff. So maybe I did not set the rigth stuff into the site, or something. ?

Well, the thing is that i'm following this video to get to make a web, but my problem is that when i preview the page, the background doesn't show up, i made it in CorelDraw, is not a piece of art or something, is just a freaking simple standard background, i don't know why it doesn't, so tell me if there's something you have to do to the image so it can show up in the web, please help me with that, again i say, i know nothing about using expression web.

Can't open video C D

I just bought a copy of Expressionweb and was delighted to see that a training video CD was included.
However, it won't 'run' because it asks for Silverlight 1 to be installed.
However, the Silverlight downloads all default to Silverlight 2 !! - and it won't run with Silverlight 2.
How do I open and run the C D ? It's not much use otherwise.:angry:

Pause the videos

I've got a simple, probably born of ignorance, question: How do I pause the videos once they are running my browser? From what I've seen, these videos (thanks to creator!) are by far the best, most approachable, way to learn Expressions (especially for an old Frontpage user), but I need to pause them occasionally to digest the info. and work on the other screen of Expressions that I have open.

Expression Web 2 w/ layers

2. The layers stuff inside the layer vanishes unless clicked on.

3. When adjusting the layer's height or width using your mouse, after positioning the layer to relative, the layer jumps out of the layer it's in with or with out a float.

new to expression have a question about screen adjustment

I've found the property in my background style that allows my background to adjust to the size of my browser window. If I set (x) background-postion to centre and (y) background-position to centre, then the background will re-size according to my browser window.

This is great, however all the layers that I have placed on my page don't adjust with the window size. All my layers scatter when I re-size my window.

What property must be set so that my layers stay in position.

help!!!

Downloadable tutorials in the future?

Having finished the first group of videos to get into using Expression Web I've got to say I am enjoying using EW and following along to the videos, it's my prefered style of learning, but theres one small problem for me. At the end of the month I'm moving to a new house and it'll take some time before I can have regular access to the internet again so while I can keep designing and such I won't be able to search forums for any help or watch the videos online.
I did a search of the forums and I couldn't find anything that seemed like this had been discussed before so I thought maybe I'd bring it up. There are downloads (for the introduction videos at least) for Zune and iPod, great if you have those, but unfortunatly I don't and I'm doubtful they will work on a computer. So is there any chance there will be downloads available that are laptop/PC friendly in the future? Of course I'm not saying they should be uploaded by tomorrow but it strikes me as strange to have only Zune and iPod downloads available, if Camtasia is recording in such a way that you can only view the videos with these two devices or online I'm sure there are other ways you can record, CamStudio as one example off the top of my head.

Anyway just thought I'd throw it out there.

Audio Problems with Tutorials

As I look and listen to your video tutorials, the audio begins to lag behind big time. It begins to sound like tortured chipmunks. This is even after I've completely downloaded the tutorial before I run it so I'm not waiting for my buffer to catch up. Now I have just learned, and am not 100% certain why, that the current Flash player is creating this problem. Is this correct?

What is creating this very disturbing audio playback problem with your tutorials? And if you know and are aware of the problem, what are you doing to fix it?

I'm asking these questions because I would like to purchase one of the LearnVisualStudio.Net packages your sister site has for sale. However, this audio problem is so bad that I don't want to spend my money on the product if the answer is for me to uninstall the most current Flash program only to re-install a Flash program that is two generations old. Answers such as that don't work for me.

Your tutorials are really very good. And I'm certain that the quality of the original recording is excellent. But before I purchase a 2-year package, I'd like to know what steps you are taking to correct this problem. Please inform me and the others who are experiencing this problem.

Strange problem

[New Problem]
I've pushed myself forward since yestarday and got myself to the end of the Expression Web introduction tutorial and managed to get my site looking like it should... in IE7. Firefox insists on causing me much pain and suffering however. [New Solution]
Having sat and read through the code, gave myself an annoying headache I managed to find the cause of the problem and more importantly solve it, sort of.
The problem was that I hadn't cleared both on the footer div so it was moving up over the top of my left and right columns. So having cleared both on the footer it jumps down to the bottom in firefox where it's meant to be [b]and[/b] it works fine in IE7 as well. All I've got to do now is get my footer style working again (I tore out the code and started new on the footer to find the problem :P)

A big thanks for making the video tutorials, after swapping back to an older Flash version they work fine and help out a lot :)

problems with tutorials

WHen I play the tutorial on my laptop, I get a lot of choppy interference with audio and the audio runs about four or five seconds faster than the video, so it is never describing the actions I'm actually seeing. It's describing actions I will soon see. It makes learning more of a challenge.

Any ideas?

Problem with Screen Shots

I am including several screen shots in my website. I used the auto thumbnail feature when I inserted them into the page. But when I preview the site and click to drill down to the larger image the text turns out all fuzzy and is barely legible. Where am I missing it?

Hi,

I am currently working through the second video and attempting to display the first picture right above the footer of the core website. I am working with three different browsers: IE7, Firefox3, and Opera 9.5. The picture looks correct for the latter two browsers but for IE7, the bottom of the image is being cut off by the footer. I followed all of the instructions and can't seem to figure it out. Thanks in advance for any help given. By the way here's the code...

I am following the Learn Expression videos and currently I am looking at the second one dealing with CSS and the author uses images for background. I am also working with my own version of Expression Web 2 but I can't find the images that he is using in the lesson. Are there images that I can download somewhere on the site? For those who have went through the videos, would anyone have an answer for me?
