Does anyone know how long the search engines like Google, Yahoo and the like take to recognise a new web site. I have been on line now 8 days and I still have to type in the Explorer bar the full address of my web site    WWW.HONDAH100AOWNERSCLUB.CO.UK

Thank's for any advic.

regards Neil

There's really not a finite answer to that question, though it is much faster these days than it used to be. Google makes some webmaster tools that can help you spot problems if they're having any with your site;

Google Webmaster Tools

My wife has given birth to our twins, so I'm still going to be spotty around here. It never seems to correct itself does it? I'm sorry, I'm trying.

Hi,

Have you submitted yor url to the search engine? i.e www.google.com/addurl ? because that can help speed the process up although some search engines will find the site without submitting it.

Hi again,

To check if google has picked up your website you can use the google webmaster tool by verifying your site and it will tell you if you are indexed and when the googlebot last checked viewed your page. This is a very useful tool.

As of taody 5/22/2008 it looks like there are 63 pages indexed. You can keep a check on this by typing in the search engine box site:www.HONDAH100AOWNERSCLUB.CO.UK

Look at the results - and check to see if the description or titles are all the same. The results will give you an idea of some of the things you need to do to fix mistakes. I have even picked up words spelled wrong when doing this.

It could take anywhere up to six months to get your site "way up on the list" depending on if your meta tags are correct.

Also there are some great sites out there for learning the secrets of meta tags, and even a meta tag checker.  (although i don't remember the url's of these sites, you could do a search for them)

Hi,

I read one of those SEO expert books on how to get your website indexed by google in under 24hrs.

So my first advice is DO NOT FILL IN ONE OF THOSE GOOGLE WEB SUBMISSION FORMS. What i did for my website was to make up a small couple line overview of the main topic on your website and submit that on Digg with your full website address on it. Cuz google crawlers(robots) will go on to digg and from there go onto your website and those crawlers will index your website. It will take couple of days to appear on google.

Secondly submit your website on to couple of web directories, some of them charge around $5 for a permanent listing, even thou no human visits these directories the google crawlers do and they crawle onto your website from the directories. The more links that are pointing to your website the more higher it will go on the search engines. Cuz it makes google think that your website is important.

I have to go but get links pointing to your website and google will index your website, it will take couple of days to come on but it works. but i repeat DO NOT FILL IN ONE OF THOSE GOOGLE WEB SUBMISSION FORMS cuz that could take up to 6months.

my website http://www.easientry.com it took 4 days to appear on google and the first thing i did was to post small paragraph on main topic of my site on the DIGG website. By the time DIGG realise its spam your website will already be indexed.
